James R. "Jiggs" Coburn Jr., 88, of the Ceres Road, Bluefield, departed from his life on earth early Tuesday, morning, August 4, 2020, only to hear his Lord and Savior to say; "Well done thou good and faithful servant, welcome home." Born, March 31, 1932, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James R. Coburn Sr. and Juanita Evelyn Lamb Coburn. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Marine Corp. Jiggs was a retired employee for the N&W Railroad in Princeton. He was called into the ministry early on in life, having ministered for more than 60 years. He established the Full Gospel Assembly Church on Fayette Street in Princeton where he pastored for more than 46 years. Besides his love for the Lord, Jiggs loved to farm, make music, especially playing the fiddle. He was devoted to his family and serving God's people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Ila Katherine Butler Coburn, a grandson, Anthony Randell Simpson and four siblings, Edward, Thomas, Evelyn and Joyce. Those left to cherish his memory, are his seven loving children and their spouses, Gwenda and Dewey Anderson, Charlton "Chuck" and Mary Coburn. Barbara and Buster Thompson, Mitchel "Mitch" and Ellen Coburn, Rebecca "Becky" and Randy Simpson, David and Allena Coburn, James "Jamie" and Rachelle Coburn; Thirteen loving grandchildren, Richard, Larry, D.J., Tori, Brielle, and Kensley Coburn, Jonathan and Jason Cottle, Crystal Furches, Mark Huffman, Amanda Wenisch, Dean Anderson, Laken Carpenter; and Fourteen great-grandchildren; Four siblings and their spouses, Charlie and Parlee Coburn, Shirley and Bill Kelley, Mary and Don Keene, Ronnie and Drema Coburn; A very special family friend, and the right-arm-of his ministry, Linda Monk; Several nieces, nephews and his church family also survive. Homegoing services to celebrate the life of James R. "Jiggs" Coburn will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 7, 2020, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with his daughter Pastor Becky Simpson and Pastor Dana Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Butler Family Cemetery at Hilltop with military graveside rites provided by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com . Due to the Governor's mandate, masks and social distancing, will be observed. Those that are unable to attend, can view his services thru webcasting on our website. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The Coburn family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
