Hubert Virgil Scott, 92 of Princeton, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 3, 2019 after a month long illness. Born September 7, 1926, on Jenkinjones Mountain in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Charlie Odell and Reba Beulah Keys Scott. Hubert was a loving son, father, friend who had a tender heart and always enjoyed helping others when he could. He was a continuous miner operator and worked for over 40 years as an underground coal miner employed by Pocahontas, VA coal mine, Itmann Coal Company and Consol Coal Company at Itmann. He was a member of the UMWA Local 9690 of Itmann. Hubert enjoyed attending Voice of Calvary Baptist Church in Princeton while he was able. When he was younger, his favorite activities was golfing, upholstery, deer, squirrel and rabbit hunting, fishing and camping. In his retirement years he enjoyed watching all these animals visiting his back yard and bird watching. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Arlice Ellen Tanner Scott Harless and only sibling, Helen Lou Scott. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and his generation of ten first cousins. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Patricia Helen Scott Wilcox of Princeton; Two grandsons, John D. Wilcox and wife Christie, Gregory Brian Wilcox and wife Janice; Four great-grandchildren, Angela Grace, Kaylynn Faith, Heather Rose and David Gregory; Sister-in-law, Ina Lois Caudill of North Tazewell, VA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Fuenral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Dr. Michael Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 Noon until the service hour at the funeral home. The Scott family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
