Obituary

Zylpha Ella Carbaugh Fry, 91 died June 16, 2025, at Glenwood Healthcare Center. She was born on November 29, 1933, in Princeton, WV. The youngest child of the late Leftwich Carbaugh and Viola Bird Carbaugh, she was affectionately called "Baby" by many of her family members. She attended Glenwood School and graduated from Princeton High School in 1951. After graduation she worked at the Telephone Company in Bluefield, WV. September 20, 1958, she married the love of her life, Carroll "Hoover" Fry.  They had two children, Carol "Lynn" Fry Collins and Richard Kevin Fry.  Zylpha loved children, not only caring for her own, but also providing loving day care in her home for several little ones over the years.  She loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  In addition, she was a great homemaker, gardener and cook. She attended Greenview United Methodist church all of her life.  She taught Sunday school, was an active member of the United Methodist Women and was always eager to make a dish for church dinners and events. In November of last year her beloved husband of 66 years, Hoover passed away. Their love and devotion to each other was a true love story.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers; L.E. Carbaugh, and James Carbaugh (Grace), sisters; Bernice Hawkins (Harry), Judy Linkous (Harold), and Dean Suiter (Bill), and sister-in-law Doris Carbaugh (Richard). She is survived by her brother, Richard Carbaugh  (Doris), her children; Lynn Fry Collins (Bill) of Lincoln, NE and Kevin Fry (Sharon) of Bluefield, WV, grandchildren; Ann Heidbrink(Marty), Sarah Irvin (Jay), Katelyne Fry, and Kelsey Clarke (Thomas) and great grandchildren, Easton, Stella, Elle, Isaiah, Esme and Cain and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Rev. Dr. Bill Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.
