William Ted Smith, 77, of Country Field Lane, Princeton, died peacefully Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born on February 23, 1946, in Wytheville, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Smith and Billie Louise Coen Smith. William graduated from Pineville High School in 1963, he continued his education at Beckley College, in Beckley WV. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. William was a lineman for Appalachian Power Company and later worked as an electrician for Eastern Coal and was a proud member of UMWA. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, but his favorite hobby was collecting guns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. Smith and Robert W. Smith. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Dina Mitros Smith; Children, William T. Smith, Jr. (Tad) and Caroline, Darrell G. Smith, Dinos (Justin) Smith and Stephanie, Andrea N. Smith Pruitt and Brian; One brother, John L. Smith and Susan; Eleven grandchildren; Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services to celebrate the life of William Ted Smith will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, June 8, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Gary Raulerson officiating funeral and Mike Bailey officiating graveside. Burial with military honors provided by Wyoming County Veteran's Honor Guard will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
