Obituary

William (Willie) Ray Miller, 53, of Bluefield, WV, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 17, 2025, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born April 21, 1972, in Welch, WV, raised in Raysal, WV, he was the son of the late William Danny Miller & Lola Payne Click.

Willie was a graduate of Big Creek High School, Class of 1990, he loved McDowell county and was proud to be a Big Creek Owl. He was the owner/operator of Miller's HVAC and Electrical. He was an extremely hard worker and loved his profession. His Heart of Gold was often on display as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He never met a stranger, friends and family never knew when Willie was going to stop by unannounced at any time night or day, to offer help of any kind or just for a friendly visit.

Willie was a lover of music, especially classic rock, including Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Bob Seger and many more bands. He was an excellent self-taught guitarist and played at any opportunity he had.    W illie was an avid sports fan of Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Rams and the West Virginia Mountaineers. He used this passion of sports to mentor youth through coaching. He was a coach throughout his entire adult life, coaching youth football, youth basketball, Little League baseball, Baseball teams at both Graham High School and Middle School, as well as wrestling at Pikeview High School. He loved coaching and loved the relationships he built with his players, as they became family to him.

Willie loved his family deeply, especially his grandkids who called him BaBa, taking his granddaughter, Mackenzie, to weekly movie trips to collect new popcorn buckets, or taking his grandson, Waylon, to the movies frequently as well as weekly trips to Applebee's after wrestling practice. The quiet moments meant the most—especially the couch naps with Walker and Carson. He lovingly called Carson 'Blue Eyes,' because Carson was the only one with blue eyes like Willie's Dad.

In addition to his father, Willie is preceded in death by his grandparents, Katherine Miller and Lucille Miller; and cousin, Jeffery Cox. In addition to his mother, Lola Click, those left to cherish his memory are his life partner, Lisa Thornsbury; children, Danny Miller and wife, Brittany, and Hannah Miller and partner, Cole Luster; grandchildren, Mackenzie Miller (10), Waylon Miller (3), Walker Miller (2), and Carson Luster (7 months); siblings, Machel Allen and husband, William Allen; niece, Ava Allen; lifelong friend, Chris King; many aunts and uncles; and his wrestling family at Pikeview High School, including past players and his many work helpers with his HVAC business.
