Wilburn Curtis Vest, 101, of Princeton, was called to his eternal home, Friday evening, December 1, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was the first son of the late Arley G. & Myrtle Long Vest. He served his country in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1939 until 1941. He then served with the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 until 1945, serving on several islands in the South Pacific. After the war, he served with the WV Army National Guard from 1963 until 1966. He retired from the U.S. Postal service with 33 years of service. Wilburn was a faithful member of the First Church of God on Mahood Avenue in Princeton. He was a kind and generous man, greatly loved by his family. He outlived all his siblings; brothers Hobert & Denny, a sister Arlistine, along with two sons who preceded him in death, Dale & Ronnie. Those left to cherish his memory, he loving and devoted wife of 78 years, Eula Mae Yost Vest, 3 sons, Don & wife Sandra of Maiden, NC, Allen & wife Connie of Princeton, and William "Bill" & wife Vella of Cool Ridge, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren & two great great grandchildren. Services to celebrate the life of Wilburn Vest will be held at Noon, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ray Jones officiating. Military Graveside Service will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com . Friends & Family will serve as pallbearers. The Vest Family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
