Obituary

Virginia Mae White "Ginny" Kennedy was born to Audrey and Pauline Thompson White on September 27, 1942. She was the older sister of Richard and Larry White. Ginny grew up on a farm in Mercer County, West Virginia, where family stories recall her first winter, when snow often had to be shaken from her baby blankets each morning. She formed a quick attachment to her grandmother, Valeria, and would follow her for two miles but wouldn't walk two feet for anyone else—a glimpse into the future of her own four grandchildren, all vying for her attention.

Virginia was a 1960 graduate of Oakvale High School and grew into a beautiful woman and a force to be reckoned with. She earned her Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) diploma, a universally recognized credential from the Gemological Institute of America, and embarked on a lifelong career as a highly regarded gemologist who never shied away from hard work. She was first employed at Alfred Lands Jewelry and later worked for many years with Sterling Jewelry, the largest specialty retail jeweler in the United States, where she was honored as a top employee.

She loved to travel and delighted in taking her family on unforgettable trips to Hawaii, Disney World, and countless other destinations. Ginny was interesting, articulate, outspoken, opinionated, a whole lot of fun, and glamorous until the very end.

She passed peacefully and well loved late in the night of January 27, 2026, holding her son's hand and surrounded by assurances of love from her family.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Audrey and Pauline White.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina Greene; her son, Joe Lechaton, and his wife, Sherry; and her grandchildren: Kelsey Greene, her husband, Michael, and their son, Tucker; Austin Lechaton, his wife, Summer, and their daughter, Josie; Morgan Bolling and her husband, Andrew; and Joshua Greene. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard Audrey White and his wife, Linda, of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Larry James White and his wife, Joyce, of Princeton, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory  on Athens Road in Princeton, with Duane Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery off Pisgah Road. Family and friends are encouraged to visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
