Obituary

Violet Belcher, 96, of Princeton, passed peacefully early Wednesday morning, August 30, 2023, at her home. Born July 24, 1927, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Clifton Taylor & Leatha Sarver Taylor. She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Violet was a graduate of Princeton High School and a member of the First Christian Church on Straley Avenue in Princeton where she took immense joy in helping her sister and niece in the nursery for many years. She also participated for years in the women's group at the church, the Wilma Tye Circle, that took care of many people's needs. She loved spending time with family and friends and always made sure they were well fed and happy when they came to visit. She loved to laugh, golf, take brisk walks after dinner, and take long walks on the beach. She walked so fast that no one could keep up with her. She enjoyed her days golfing with her husband and with her friends on "ladies' day" at Princeton Elks club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde M. Belcher, son Ronald Belcher, son-in-law Richard Chambers, and five siblings; Ernest Taylor, Eleanor Palmer, Annie Simmons, Sylvia Repass Foster, Ray Taylor. Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted son Donald Belcher, daughter Nancy Chambers, grandchildren, Tobi Chambers, Lori Parkman, Aaron Williams & Emily Baldwin. Great grandchildren Caitlyn & Robert Williams and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2:00 Friday, September 8, 2023, at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton with Pastor Steve Janning officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from Noon until 2:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice as well as all the wonderful caregivers that made sure that Violet was well taken care of during the past few years. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the First Christian Church or the Alzheimer's association. The Belcher family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
