Vinnia Jean Neal, 85, of Princeton, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 18, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Jean was born on March 2, 1941, in Lamar, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Aaron Church and Ninnie Bell O’Dell Snead. She was lovingly raised by Roy and Louise O’Dell, whom she affectionately called Mom and Dad.

Jean graduated from Princeton High School in 1959. That same year, she married the love of her life, William “Willie” Neal.

Jean never met a stranger. She was sweet and kind, always wore a smile, and went out of her way to ensure that others were cared for. Her warm spirit and genuine concern for people made everyone she met feel welcome and loved.

Throughout her working years, Jean was employed by Blank’s Paint and Wallpaper, Decoration Station, and The Willow Gift Gallery. She also owned and operated “Off the Wall” wallpaper store. Jean had a wonderful eye for beauty and especially enjoyed making wedding flowers and directing weddings.

She loved bowling and faithfully attended Lifeline Church Peterstown until declining health prevented her from participating in the activities she enjoyed. Although her health placed limitations on what she could do, it never diminished her love for the Lord or her devotion to her family. Jean was her family’s biggest cheerleader, always supporting, encouraging, and celebrating those she loved. Above everything else, her family was her greatest joy.

In addition to her biological parents, Aaron and Ninnie, and the parents who raised her, Roy and Louise O’Dell, Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Keith O’Dell, and her sister, Brenda Bailey.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted daughter, Carla Bragg and husband, Brian; grandson, Jared Bragg and wife, Crystal; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lilly and husband, Jon; great-grandson, Jonny Lilly; two sisters, Virginia “Jenny” O’Dell, and Kathy O’Dell and her companion, Pam Gregg; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Princeton Health Care Center for the loving care provided to Jean during the last seven years and to Hospice Compassus of Princeton for its compassionate care during her final months.

Funeral services celebrating Jean’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Lifeline Church, 205 Oakvale Road, Princeton, West Virginia, with Pastor Dana Truckenmiller officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
