Obituary

Thelma Leota Rakes Cox, 98, of Fayette Street, Princeton, died Monday, November 13, 2023, at Encompass Rehabilitation, in Princeton. Born September 7, 1925, in Hemphill, WV, she was the daughter of the late John Rakes and Beatrice Hamilton Rakes. Thelma loved her Lord and was a member of the Pentecostal Revival Center in Princeton. S he was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, s ister, aunt and friend. Thelma was a homemaker and enjoyed the family get-togethers especially cooking for her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert L. Cox. Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Robert L. Cox, Jr, and wife Katherine, and Sandra Blankenship and husband John; Four grandchildren, Jeff Woods (Regina), Michael Woods (Kayla), Angela Holly (John) and Jennifer Gardner (David); Three great-grandchildren, Miranda Woods, Katlyn Woods and Christina Bruno; Half-sister, Libby Wimmer; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 17, 2023, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens (Nativity Garden) in Princeton with Pastor Joyce Tedder officiating. Those attending the services are requested to meet at the funeral home no later than 1:45 P.M. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
