T ammy Mathena Saunders, 65, of Lessie Court, Princeton, died Sunday, February 18, 2024, at WVU-Princeton Community Hospital after a short illness. Born, January 11, 1959, in Princeton, she was the daughter of Nancy Coburn Mathena Napier and the late Guy Mathena. Tammy was a loving wife, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. S he loved her Lord, her family and was a homemaker. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Brent Whittaker. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 40 years, Rev. Dennis Saunders; One daughter, Satyra (Sadie) Keener and husband Jeff; One step-son, David Saunders and wife Kim; One sister, Bari Clagg; Grandchildren, Joshua, Samuel, Carmen, Ian; Nephew, Jesse; Nieces, Jessica, Sarah, Jesi, Brandie and several special nieces and nephews also survive; Best friend of nearly 50 years, Sheila Willis. Graveside services will be held at Noon, Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Pastor Richard Godfrey officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.
