Synthia May Lester Asbury, 82, of Canbrake, WV, died peacefully, Thursday, December 8, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. Born, May 31, 1940, in Hurley, VA, she was the daughter of the late Oscar William Lester and Pearl Ferrell Lester Matney. Synthia was raised by her grandfather, the late Blaine Lester. Synthia was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved the Lord, was a member of the Berwind House of Praise and a homemaker. Synthia enjoyed quilting, reading, writing poems and cooking for her family. In addition to her parents, her grandfather, her husband, Herbert (Hub) Asbury, one son, Randall Bright and wife, Barbara Ellen Bright of St. Cloud, FL, one son-in-law, Daniel John Stacey of Siler City, NC, two sisters, Mildred Joy Lester and Martha Jane Ratliff, six brothers, Lincoln Lester, Jimmy Lester, Ira Lester, CB Lester, Edward Lester and Vester Lester. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted children, Daughter, Nora Regina Asbury Stacey of Siler City, NC; Three sons, Larry Dean Asbury of the home, Keith Asbury and companion Rhonda Collis of Berwind, Christopher Asbury and Elisha Fuller of Richlands, VA; Four sisters, Gladys Cunningham and husband Dennis of Hurley, VA, Angeline Click of Marion, VA, Ethel Kobaski of Bartley, WV and Charlene Waganer of NC; Five brothers, Oscar W. Lester and wife Nettie of Denver, NC, Brooks Lester and wife Susie of Bartley, WV, Jack Lester and wife Mary of Pipestem, WV, Henry Matney of Hurley, VA; Twelve grandchildren; Seventeen great-grandchildren; One sister-in-law, Patty Lester of Bristol, VA; One brother-in-law, Wallace Ratliff of Coonbranch, VA; Several nieces, nephews and church family also survive. The family has honored her request to be cremated with memorial services to be held in the spring. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com . The Asbury family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton, WV.
