Steven Carl Mitchem, 49, of Beckley, WV, formerly of Burke Mtn., Keystone, WV, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Born May 26, 1974, in Bluefield, he was the son of Ransome & Juanita Sue Mitchem. Steven was a graduate of Concord College. He worked for Keystone Hardware in his teenage years, then worked as technical support for several years in different places. Steven loved Nascar racing and riding his motorcycle. He was a humble and kind person and helped any way he could, always having something funny to say. Steven will be dearly missed, but his struggles are over, he has a new body and is rejoicing with our heavenly father, and we will see him again. He was preceded in death by his dad, Ransome C. Mitchem, his niece Kayla Woolridge, grandparents Stuart & Sue Burkett, Greely & Ruby Mitchem and several aunts and uncles. Those left to cherish his memory, his mother, Sue Mitchem of Burke Mtn.; two sisters, Nita (Charlie) McKinney of Burke Mtn. and Gracie Mitchem of Princeton, WV; brother, Michael Mitchem; his favorite nephew and best buddy Shawn (Anneliese) Woolridge of Princeton, WV; nephews Nicholas Mitchem and Michael Mitchem, Jr.; two nieces, Kristen (Josh) Woolridge of North Tazewell, Va. & Megan Mitchem; special aunt, Mary Mullins of VA; and Hal & Karen Lafferty of Northfork; along with several other aunts, uncles and cousins. Steven has been cremated and no services will be held. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com . The Mitchem family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
