Stephen N. Jones, 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 2, 2026. Born on July 23, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, he moved to Athens, West Virginia at a young age and considered it his hometown. He made homes in New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, before finally retiring to his home in Ashville, New York. He was known for his unwavering faith, generous spirit, and deep love for his family.

Steve shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Bernadette Jones, whose love and partnership were the foundation of their family. Together they raised four children: Kathleen Jones of Newark, DE; Stephen (Gail) Jones of Mason, OH; Marlene (Ray) Anderson of Panama, NY; and Kevin (Nicole) Jones of Manheim, PA. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to nine grandchildren: Joshua Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Ian Jones, Caleb Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson, Ethan (Arianna) Jones, Vanessa Jones, Kayla Jones, and Arianna Jones. Nothing brought Steve greater joy than watching his family grow and cherishing time spent with those he loved. Some of his greatest memories were made with his family during their traditional Thanksgiving and Memorial Day celebrations, the many delicious dinners he prepared for them, spending time on his farm, fishing in the pond, camping, singing, and bowling. He would often stop by their homes with fresh donuts and produce, or just to say hello and visit for a while.

Steve worked for many years as a construction manager, earning the respect of colleagues through his strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication. Beyond his career, he devoted himself to serving both his church and his community. He found great joy in music, singing faithfully in his church choir and with quartets throughout the years. He was also a longtime member of the Philadelphia Singers, where he shared his love of music and fellowship with others.

His commitment to helping those in need extended beyond the church. Steve volunteered as a firefighter in Patterson and West Milford, New Jersey, and served as an EMT in Cranberry, Pennsylvania, demonstrating a lifelong willingness to serve and protect others.

Steve will be remembered for his kindness, steady faith, servant's heart, and the love he freely gave to his family, friends, and community. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the example of compassion and dedication he set for all who knew him.

Friends will be received from 12:00-1:00 pm on Monday, August 10, at the Memorial Funeral Directory in Princeton, West Virginia. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Athens Cemetery.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he enriched.
