Obituary

Stanley Eugene Walkup, 80, of Glenwood Park, died Friday, October 3, 2025, at his home peacefully with his family at his side.

Born March 9, 1945, in Willowton, he was the son of the late Carl Toney (Junior) Walkup. & Dorothy L. Meadows Walkup.

Stanley graduated from Oakvale High School in 1963. He had a long career with the Mercer County Board of Education spanning nearly 30 years as an electrician.

Stanley  served in the US army during the Vietnam conflict stationed in Budingen, Germany.  Stanley was a member of the Carr Memorial Global Methodist Church at Glenwood, where he served in various capacities. Stanley loved the outdoors, hunting & fishing and he loved wildlife of all types. He loved to take day adventures out with his wife. Stanley was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Kiera Ann Walkup in August of this year, brother, Larry Walkup, and father-in-law Neal Bailey.

Those left to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 46 years, Karen Ann Bailey Walkup, mother in law, Wanda L. Bailey,  brother Toney Walkup & wife Mickey, sisters in law, Betty Jo (BJ) Walkup, Barbara & Steve Abbatello, Debbie & Brian Martin & Rhonda & Darrell Davenport along with a host of nieces and nephews.

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 4:00 P.M., we will celebrate the life of Stanley Walkup in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Gerald Roberts officiating. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Carr Memorial Global Methodist Church Building Fund 1544 Glenwood Park Road Princeton, WV 24739. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2:30 P.M. until service time.
