Shelby Jean Yates Thompson, 80, of Gary, died Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born November 05, 1944, in Elbert, WV, she was the daughter of the late Garfield Yates and Mary Virginia Boner Yates Martin. She retired from Gary Nursing where she loved to help all her patients. She took great pride in taking care of Miracle Mountain Wilderness Park for over 40 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by siblings James Yates, Earnest Yates, Ronnie Yates, Richard Yates, Mary Fraizer, Jerry Martin. Those left to cherish her memory, her children Christoper Thompson and wife Yvonne, son Marty Thompson and wife Cecelia. 3 grandchildren Siblings Roger Yates and wife Ava, Sammy Martin and wife Robin, Jackie Romeo and husband David, Toni Shirley and husband Bobby, Duard Martin and wife Diane. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday August 3, 2025 at Wilderness Park on Miracle Mountain family.
