Obituary

Sarah Lee Fry Cahill

Princeton, WV

Sarah Lee Fry Cahill, 90, went peacefully into the arms of our Lord on January 21, 2026, with her family by her side. Born on August 15, 1935, in Matoaka, West Virginia, she was the daughter of James W. Fry, Sr. and Thelma E. (Hawks)Fry.

Sarah married the love of her life, James E. "Jim" Cahill, and together they shared an extraordinary 74 years of marriage. She worked for a time at Spangler Drug and Acme Supermarket, but her greatest joys were found in her home and community. A gifted seamstress and devoted crafter, Sarah poured love into everything she created. She was also known for her exceptional cooking, especially her famous coconut cream pies, which were cherished by all who tasted them.

For more than 50 years, Sarah was an active and faithful member of Kee Street United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Ruth Byrd Circle and formed lifelong friendships. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, and great‑great‑grandmother whose gentle spirit and steady devotion shaped the lives of all who knew her.

Sarah is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim; her brothers Dwight Fry, Carrol (Hoover) Fry, and James Fry Jr.; her sister Bernice Bolton; and her nephew Tom Bolton.

She is survived by her two children, Robert Cahill and Barbara Cahill Parsons (Don); her grandchildren, Rebecca Manning (Scott) and Brad Cahill (Meagan); five great‑grandchildren—Emily Surface, Kayla Surface, Julie Surface, Elin Cahill, and Tori Cahill; and one great‑great‑grandchild, Grayson Weatherly. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Charley, Renee, Sheila, Angie, Kaila, Wanda and Idella for their devoted and compassionate care. Sarah's life was a testament to love, faith, and family. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at Memorial Funeral Home on Athens Road in Princeton.
