Samuel Jack "Sammy" Barker, 90, 0f Princeton, died peacefully early Thursday morning, October 19, 2023, at Princeton Health Care Center. Born August 9, 1933, at Lamar, he was the son of the late Samuel Mitchell Barker & Billie Burke White Barker. Sammy served as a policeman for the City of Princeton for 13 years, with the Mercer County sheriff Department for 8 years. Sammy worked at Barkers Muffler & Tire Center for 33 years. For those who knew Sammy, he was a true WVU Mountaineer Fan, through & through, he truly loved THE MOUNTAINEERS, Sammy was a hard-working man, for most of his life, he held down two jobs. While his health permitted, he enjoyed traveling and watching old westerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Jean Baker Barker, son Ronald Barker, two greatgrandchildren, Justin Cook & Landon Dowell along with five siblings: Shirley Barker, Mollie Dickerson, Nancy Bolin, Billy Jo Barker & Ricky Barker. Survivors include four children & their spouses, Mitchell & Bobbie Barker, Jackie & Joyce Barker, Bo & Missy Barker, & Matthew & Lorretta Barker, 8 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. 1 Great great grandchild, 9 Siblings, Judy Brookman, Janie Walters (Colin), Bonnie Flanagan, Kelly Barker, Randy Barker (Ellen), Cecil Barker (Janet), Larry Barker, Vickie Kelly & Christy Barker along with a host of nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 6:00 P.M. Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Scott Catron officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home by 9:45 A.M. The family requests that those attending the visitation & funeral come casual, dressed in your mountaineer colors. Family will serve as pallbearers.
