Rosalie Robinette
Puckett Wade
Apr 6, 1929 — Jun 19, 2023
As dawn appeared peacefully over the horizon, Rosalie Robinette Puckett Wade, comforted by loved ones, eased into an eternal rest on June 19, 2023, at the age of 94. Born April 6, 1929, to the late Henry and Maggie Robinette, Rosalie lived a zestful life, full of wit, sarcasm, and a passion for family. Her laugh was uniquely genuine, and her soft-spoken demeanor as she aged always provided a sense of calm, even in the most difficult of times. Although life was far from easy, Rosalie always reflected on the 'farm days' as some of the best, and often recounted how the 'tough times made it worth it'. Following the untimely death of her first husband, Jack, at a young age, Rosalie left Shawver's Mill (VA), and settled her family in Glenwood, where she raised her four children (John, Jack Jr, Carol, and Rick) surrounded by a loving family and neighboring community. A faithful, tithing member of Carr United Methodist Church, Rosalie worked varied jobs to make sure that her friends and family were cared for. Upon retirement, and after the passing of her second husband, Bernard, her focus again shifted from the immediate family raising their own kids, to giving place of safe harbor and comfort to grandkids and great-grandkids. Certainly, Rosalie leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that was evident by the stories and memories regularly shared by all. Her door was always open and the candy bowl at the door was never only half full. The kitchen was seemingly stocked for an impromptu four course meal, and something was always at the ready, no matter the occasion. From deviled eggs to coconut and pumpkin pies, no one ever left hungry. Holidays, celebrations, and late-night grandkid sleepover stories were much the norm over the years, and visits were never left without a wave at the door and the promise of a return stay. Caretaker to a family of risk takers and adventurous thrill seekers, the consummate worrier was forever engaged in knowing the well being of all. With her extended family, and acceptance as a matriarch to multiple families and generations, her life lessons, shared wisdom, and giving spirit stitched a rare tapestry like no other. It was this collage of patterns that made her life, and the lives of others, so colorful and sincerely profound. Rosalie was preceded in death by her husbands' Jack Warren Puckett and Bernard Wade, as well as brothers, Harold Robinette and Lewis Robinette. She is survived by her sons John Puckett (wife, Sandra Puckett), Jack Puckett, and Rick Puckett (wife Christy Puckett) and preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Pettrey. She is also, survived by her stepson Darrell Wade, and preceded in death by stepsons Damon Wade, and Bill Wade. She has seven grandchildren; Greg Puckett, Jill (Puckett) Pruett, Brian Puckett, Josh Puckett, Jack Puckett, Jessica (Puckett) Aliff, and Jonathan Puckett. She is preceded in death by grandson James Allen Puckett. She has seven great grandchildren: Lauren Puckett, Joseph Puckett, Olivia Puckett, Declan Puckett, Julie Puckett, Jenna Aliff, and Jamie Aliff.
