Obituary

Rosalie Stover Peck, 82, of Athens, died peacefully Wednesday morning, February 5, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.

Born November 8, 1942, in Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Stover & Dorothy Wriston Stover.

Rosalie was a graduate of Clear Creek High School, Concord College and West Virginia University.

She taught at Woodrow Wilson High School, Clear Fork High School & Concord University. Rosalie was the first female to serve on the Mercer County Board of Education, serving 10 years.

She was instrumental in the formation of the Greater Princeton Little League Complex at Gardner, where she published a weekly newsletter for every team in the league. Rosalie devoted her life to her students; she went above and beyond to assist them. She along with her mother-in-law (Marjorie Bird Peck) started the Trading Journal in 1976, which closed its doors after more than 45 years of serving southern West Virginia. Rosalie was devoted to her granddaughters and enjoyed quilting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John G. "Jerry" Peck, along with three brothers, Glen, Lloyd & Clarence Stover.

Survivors include her son Jeremy Peck & wife Angela, two granddaughters, Sydney & Addison, along with one niece and four nephews: Karen Stover Lilly Castle, Chris Stover (Tara), Mark Stover (Kelli), Daniel Stover (Pennie), & Carroll Stover, and a host of great nieces and great nephews.

A gathering will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Concord University Foundation, P.O. Box 1405, Athens, WV 24712.
