Obituary

With a thankful heart, Ron Ball has earned his heavenly reward.  Ron loved life and all it held, but after a 2 year battle, Ron's life concluded after a short stay at Duke University Hospital. Ron craved the excitement of living life to its fullest extent.  Sports, and the coaching of sports, dominated his life.  Football, basketball and softball for both boys and girls, he loved. He was also an avid scuba diver and was an instructor of it in the PE department at Concord University.  The aspect of training and discipline led him into the path of martial arts where he diligently earned his black belt. Along the way, he lovingly remained "Coach Ball" to students and friends.  Ron was a husband, father, great grandfather, teacher, principal, coach and friend to many and he loved the Lord.  He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the First Church of God on Mahood Avenue where he was a member of the Youad Sunday School Class, and served on various committees of the church.  Ron is survived by his wife Patty, whom he was married to for 43 years; His son Michael and companion Erin of North Carolina; Daughter Michelle of Pennsylvania; Brother Donald and wife Kathy of Arizona; Grandchildren, Sean Ball of Germany, Rachel Ball of Wyoming, Great Granddaughter, Sophia of Germany; many great friends, church family members, neighbors and old buddies from his high school years at Stonewall Jackson  and from his Sig Tau years at Concord College.  He will also be missed by his two fur babies, Major and Dakota.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Betsy Ball, of Charleston. WV.  Several aunts and uncles, and his grandmother Nana of Charleston.  His mother and father-in-law, Ella and Harold Six, of Princeton, WV, and brother-in-law, Kenny Six.
