Robert "Speedo" Dale Rotenberry, Sr., 80, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born February 23, 1946, at Welch, he was the son of the late Okey Rotenberry and Celia Anis Burks Rotenberry. After graduating from Welch High School and obtaining his welding certificate, he moved to Chicago, IL and worked at Fel-Pro. After returning to McDowell County, he worked in the mines and at Welch Gas Company along with working several side jobs welding; before landing and retiring from Northfork and Southern Railroad as an Engineer. He was of the Christian faith, though he did not attend church, he never missed watching Charles Stanley every Sunday. Speedo enjoyed being with family and friends, hunting and fishing in his early years. His passion was collecting and helping restore cars.
In addition to his parents, Speedo is preceded in death by his wife, Gerri Sue Miller Rotenberry; sisters, Edna "Irene" Rotenberry Huffman and Shirley Ann Rotenberry; longtime companion, Sandy Tilley. His survivors include his children, Jennifer White and husband, Shannon, of Princeton, and Robert "Bobby" Dale Rotenberry, Jr., of Premier; step children, Bryan Miller and wife, Lisha, of Bluefield, WV, and Heather Scipio and husband, Andrew, of Cross Lanes, WV; brothers, Dennis "Shorty" Ray Rotenberry and Paul "Junior" Rotenberry, and companion, Jeane; grandchildren, Shannon "Cameron" White and wife, Zoe; step grandchildren, Nicholas Miller and wife, Haley, Emma and Aidan Miller, Jacob and Emily Scipio; special niece, Joyce "Mickey" Newcomb and husband, Les; special cousin, Jay Rotenberry.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 2, 2026, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Patrick Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluefield, WV. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com. The Rotenberry family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on Athens Road in Princeton.
