Robert MacArthur Buckner, 80, of Rocky Gap, VA., died Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his home with his loving family at his side. Born March 21, 1944, at Elkhorn, he was the son of the late James M. Buckner Sr. and Lula Sloan Hardin. Robert was a Vietnam Veteran and retired fabricator for ABB in Bland Virginia. He was a beekeeper and a member of the Beekeeper association for many years. Along with being an ordained minister he was a guitarist for the church he attended. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two siblings, Herman and Daniel Buckner. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Geraldine Hodges Buckner; Three children, Robin Buckner, Lorri Williams (Greg) and Robert "Bob" Buckner II (Pam); Six grandchildren, Andrew Stowers (Ashley), Ethan Stowers (Jenna), Amanda Smith (RJ), Gregory Williams (Brianna), Mahalia Lewis (John), Nathan Richard (Chasity); Eight great- grandchildren, Levi Stowers, Kyleigh Wolford, Garrett Stowers, Oaklyn Smith, Carter Richard, Lula Lewis, Zane Stowers and Sadie Smith who will be arriving in September; Siblings, Brenda Myers, James M. Buckner Jr. (Rita), Thomas Buckner, Alton Buckner and Belinda Dillow; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Services to celebrate the life of Robert Buckner will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 19, 2024, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Mark Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Southwest Veterans Cemetery at Dublin VA with full military honors.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.  The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
