R obert James "Bobby" Gibson, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away in his sleep at home on Friday. August 25, 2023. Bobby was born to Roscoe & Kate Gibson in Welch, on March 4, 1959. He graduated from Oakvale High School in 1977. Bobby loved the Lord and was a talented musician that used his gifts to give God the glory at church. Bobby was a custodian for Mercer County Schools for 30 years, working most of his career at Oakvale & Princeton Middle School. He loved all the kids and was well known for giving out thousands of life saver mints over the years. He encourages all to "take one and be one!". Bobby was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Kathy of 27 years. Bobby is survived by his children Curtis "Jason" Gibson & wife Keisha and Robert "Nathan" Gibson & wife Diana. Bobby was also a proud grandfather of twelve, Hailey & husband Logan, Kiyah, Clark, Isaiah, Emma, Kenner, Jayme, Ella-Kate, Tyler, Piper, Paisley & Malichi. He is survived by his brothers & sisters; William (Bill) Gibson & wife Pam of Oakvale, Joseph (Eddie) Gibson & wife Sharon of Bluefield, Timothy Gibson & wife Melinda of Oakvale, Debi Ayers & husband Donald of Princeton, Brenda Lambert & husband Teddy of Sanford, NC. & Craig Gibson & wife Anna of Princeton along with a host of nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service for Bobby will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Deliverance Temple at Brushfork with Pastor David Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the Phillips Family Cemetery on Browns Ridge Road at Lerona. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour at the church.
