Richard Glenn Grogan, Sr., 78, of Pigeon Roost, Princeton, died peacefully early Monday morning, June 19, 2023, at his home with his family at his side.  Born June 28, 1944, in Kimball, he was the son of the late John Stafford Grogan Sr. and Esther Fair Grogan. Richard was a graduate of Welch High School, Class of 1962, and received his bachelor's degree from Concord College. He had retired from the Mercer County Board of Education, having taught and coached for over 30 years. Richard was quite proud of having several WV History Classes winning the state completion for the Golden Horseshoe Award.  For a short time, Richard was a salesman for Gibbs Motors in Princeton. He was a member of the Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton., he was a member of the choir and its drama programs.  He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and in 2020, was honored to receive the WV History Hero Award for the State. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother John S. Grogan Jr. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Karen Nelson Grogan, children, Richard G. Grogan Jr. (Kendall), Thomas Edward Grogan, Jeremiah Adam Grogan (Victoria), and Ashlee Nichole Grogan; Five grandchildren; One sister, Jean Batten. S ervices to celebrate the life of Richard Grogan will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 22, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors John King and Jim Simmons officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, In Bluewell. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com .
