Retired Chief Petty Officer Terry Allen "Sonny" Rotenberry, 70, of Princeton, formerly of Welch, died due to a short battle with cancer early Tuesday morning August 23, 2022, at his home. Born November 4, 1951, at Welch, he was the son of the late William M. Rotenberry & Dorothy Mae Cruise Rotenberry. Terry graduated from Welch High School, Class of 1969. He then joined the United States Navy in 1971. Chief Petty Officer Rotenberry served 25 years in active duty and 5 years in reserves. Terry attended Concord University and graduated with a degree in Regents with a focus in Psychology in 2007. Terry was of the Baptist faith. Terry was a big NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed watching football with his family. The thing that mattered most to Terry was his family. Terry never met a stranger, he loved to help people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by 10 brothers & sisters. Those left to cherish his memory, the love of his life of 45 years, Nancy Stevenson Rotenberry, his devoted children, Josh Rotenberry & his significant other Katie, of Greenville, NC; daughter Sara Rotenberry & significant other Chris of Princeton. The two joys of his life, Jayden Blake Rotenberry and Serenity Jade Adkins along with two siblings; Bill & Thelma Rotenberry of Collinsville, VA & Jay "JC" Rotenberry of Princeton and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services honoring Retired Chief Petty Officer Terry Rotenberry will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 26, 2022, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Bluewell with full military honors under the direction of the U.S. Navy. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.con Family & friends will serve as pallbearers. The Rotenberry family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
