Rebecca L. McKinney, 78, of Lerona, died early Thursday, March 9, 2023, at home with surrounded by her family. Born, December 22, 1944, in Bluefield, WV. she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Pauline Joynes. She was a graduate of Mullens High School in 1965. Becky was employed at Roma III in the early 80's where she made some lifelong friends. Becky retired from the Mercer County Board of Education in 2009, as a custodian. She was very dedicated to her job and took great pride in her work. She was thought of as a special friend by all the staff at Straley School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Butch Joynes and beloved mother-in-law, Arlette McKinney. Those left to cherish her memory, her husband of 56 years, Duane McKinney; Daughters, Kelly Jo Maxwell and husband Bill, Bobby Rae Hunt and husband Ryan; Three grandchildren that were her pride and joy, Morgan Paige, Stephen Duane and Riley Olivia. On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 2:00 P.M., we will celebrate the life of Becky McKinney from the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, with Pastor Danny Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery in Athens. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
