Ralph Dana Halford, age 83, a loving and devoted husband of Bonnie Halford, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025 in his home surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born July 5,1941 in Winthrop Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Douglas Dunbar Halford and Doris Halford O'Brien. Ralph spent most of his adult life in the Washington DC and Fredericksburg VA area and recently moved to Princeton, WV.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Dunbar Halford and Doris Halford O'Brian, and one nephew whom he raised as a son, James Fladung.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Hutchinson Halford, one brother Doug Halford & Harriet of Manchester, Massachusetts, a sister Dawn Jackson of Charlestown, Massachusetts, a nephew Patrick Fladung who he raised as a son, and many other nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.
Ralph graduated from Keene High School in Keene, New Hampshire. After High School he graduated from Keene State College with a degree in mathematics. Early in his career he was a math teacher, and later, after moving to the DC area, worked as a software engineer.
During his early years, Ralph enjoyed golf, skiing, and other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed many types of music and traveling. After his retirement he spent time volunteering with Bonnie at Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army in Fredericksburg, and with Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. Ralph was a very kind, gentle and generous man and was loved by all who knew him. When living in Fredericksburg he attended Spotswood Baptist Church.
Friends and family may visit with the family on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. Additional Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Covenant Funeral Service in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Burial will follow in the Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Fredericksburg.
For those wishing to remember Ralph, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the Princeton, WV or Fredericksburg, VA Salvation Army. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com. The Halford family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
