Feb 9, 1968 — Jul 23, 2023
"Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory."
Racine Sayer Stefancic, 55, of Princeton, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born on February 9, 1968, in Welch, she was the daughter of Rita Sayer and the late Richard Sayer. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law Steven Stefancic, mother-in-law Mary Alice Stefancic, stepfather John Shreve and grandparents.
Racine was the devoted wife of Roger Stefancic for 33 years, a loving and wonderful mother to Steven, Sarah, Ali & Andy. Her favorite title was "Granny" to the light of her life, Liam Carter Stefancic. Also left to cherish her memory, is her mother Rita Sayer Shreve, Sister Rachelle & husband Dale Richmond of Wilmington, OH along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends-all of whom she loved dearly.
Racine was a graduate of Princeton Senior High School, Concord College and Marshall University.
Racine may be best remembered for her love of education, her dedication to children's literacy, and her devotion to Oakvale Elementary School. An employee of Mercer County Schools for over 24 years. "Mrs. Fancy" had the honor of helping thousands of children come to know and love reading. Her bright smile and warm heart greeted each child daily as they entered the school. Racine devoted her entire life to the care and success of others. She saw the best in everyone and always kept a smile on her face. May the radiant light that she was to the world continue to inspire us all.
In keeping with Racine's wishes, she will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday (July 25, 2023) at the Oakvale Elementary School with Pastor Jim Simmons and Dr. Steven Stefancic officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour. The family asks that you wear her favorite color, green, to honor her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in her honor to Saint Francis Service Dogs, 8232 Enon Drive, Roanoke VA 24019. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com
