Priscilla J. Valko, 72, of Spruce Drive, Princeton, died Sunday, April 23, 2023, at her residence. Born, February 3, 1951, in Waymouth, MA, she was the daughter of late Elanor Park Kammer and late Edwin (Ed) Kammer. Priscilla Graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1969 and from Grove City College in 1973 with a B.A. in Education with a minor in French. She Attended Slippery Rock University in 1978-79 Receiving a Master's Degree in Education from Slippery Rock University in 1983, with a Reading Specialist Certification. Priscilla had many employment experiences in life, including Gimbals' Department Store, Bachelor Furniture Company, Pittsburgh Bridge and Iron, before a wonderful career in Education. She taught at St. Bernard's School, teaching 3 rd grade; Panther Elementary teaching remedial reading 6 th grade, and Fall River Elementary teaching 1 st and 3 rd grades. Circa 1975, saw her as President of Christian Young Adults of Beaver County Pa. She r eceived two Appreciation Plaques given by parents of the students she taught. Priscilla was honored with Appreciation plaques from her 6 th grade class parents at Panther Elementary, 1984 - 1985. Again received Appreciation plaques in 1985 & 1986; Panther Elementary; Teacher of the Year; Fall River Elementary, 1991 - 1992 Received two Mini Grants from the West Virginia Education Fund; 1986; "Write a Book Learn the Language; Received the Brass Apple A ward in 1990. She has been a member of the Gary Lions Club of Lions Club International, having Joined in 2010. She served the club as President from April 2015 - June, 30 2016 [First Lady] of District Governor Ken Valko; Lions year 2015 – 16. She is a member of Kanawha Rock and Gem Club in the Eastern Federation. She also served as Lions Zone Chairperson 2016 – 2017; "I Think Therefore I Am " High Honor from the LIONS Club local and state of WV ; A Leonard Jarrett Award, Plaque presented by The District Governor and the Eye Sight Foundation. "In Sincere Appreciation and Recognition of Distinguished Service for Sight and Hearing "The West Virginia Lions Sight Conservation Foundation Inc . 2016. Pris is a lifetime member of WVEA, she has also been active in Scouting. She t aught Sunday school at The First Presbyterian Church Welch, has been an Elder, most years, starting in 1987. She was a member of the Ministerial Committee of the Presbytery for 3 years, 2011 - 2014. She Served as Treasurer for the P resbyterian Women at First Presbyterian Church Welch. Priscilla is now a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, WV. Priscilla, (Pris) was a caring lady always keeping in touch with others She knew her scripture well and often interjected this knowledge into church group discussions such as with our Friends of Faith Zoom meetings . Other hobbies included kayaking mostly at Lake Waynewood and other lakes and rivers. She also liked playing cards, Bridge, and an occasional time spent on the piano at home. Some of her best times were during summer vacations on a cross country trip or relaxing at the lake. She will be greatly missed in all the above community activities. In addition to her parents, Priscilla was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil Park and Alma Marian Lott, and brother, Paul Kammer. Priscilla was wife, friend, and Best Buddy to Ken Valko of Dunlo, Pa. They met in Hastings Pa. at St. Bernard Elementary School. They have been married for 42 Great years and will be greatly missed. In addition to her spouse, she is survived by her brother, David Kammer, and spouse, Bridget Boyal; and their children, Andrew , Annie and Park. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 26, 2023, in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Diane Hall, Chuck Hammond, and Ed Pettus officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Flowers are nice, however Pris wished that any of the groups mentioned, Lions Sight Conservation Foundation, the Leader Dog Program, would appreciate any help. Others she mentioned were Doctors without Borders, The First Presbyterian Church Bluefield Music Dept., Living Tree Memorial Program, Welch Elementary Book program and Mission Ministries in Welch.
