Phyllis Wiona (Jennings) Dennis, 77, Princeton entered into eternal rest on January 9, 2026, following a long illness.
Born May 24, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Frankie M.F. (Martin) Jennings. She was preceded in death by husband Lawrence Dennis.
Phyllis had been a resident of Princeton Health Care Center for several years. Mrs. Dennis was a 1966 graduate of Elkhorn High School. She attended Bluefield State College, majoring in Education. She retired as a dedicated employee of McDowell County Board of Education working at Switchback and Kimball Elementary Schools, where she shared her passion for working with children.
Phyllis was volunteer for the American Cancer Society in Welch, hosting programs to fundraise for Cancer research, and to bring awareness to the disease She was also a 4-H Leader who used her creative talents to guide youth in the community.
Mrs. Dennis was a long- time member of the former Mask Chapel Church of God, Vivian. She became a member in the fall of 1975.
She was also preceded in death by niece Donzella (Sweetpea) Redd, brother Retired Staff Sgt. James Cartie Lee Martin, (Glaydine) Sisters, Ernestine Mansfield, Francis Irene (Rinky) High (Robert), and Jewnita Redd.
She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, especially Cousin Francis Wade (Columbus, OH, God Daughter Shemella Prunty Washington, Special nephew Jacky Stanley (New York), to whom she reared and loved dearly. In addition, nephews Tony Reed, Keith Alfred, Michael Robinson, nieces, Sharon Diane Hunt, Deborah Phillips, Delois Walters, Angela High, and numerous relatives and friends.
A celebration of Life will be held January 17, 2026, 11:00 A.M., at First Baptist Church of Northfork. Reverend Eugene Watson & Reverend Zanette Stallworth will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, Princeton. Friends may call one hour before service. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held at the Chuck Mathena Center, 2 Stafford Common, Princeton WV 24740.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Flower bearers will be friends of the family.
A donation to the American Cancer Society can be made in her memory.
