Peggy Jean "PJ" Johnston, 94, of Princeton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born February 15, 1929, in Coalwood, WV, she was the daughter of the late Sidney DeBoard & Rosa DeBoard. In the early years of her life, Peggy worked at Maidenform, and served as a secretary for Princeton Finance. In 1963, she and her husband, Donald Johnston, became the owners of Town & Country Restaurant, later known as Johnston's Inn & Restaurant, which they operated for many years. While her health permitted, Peggy was an avid bowler and golfer. She excelled in golfing and became the Princeton Elks Club Ladies Champion. She and Don enjoyed going to Daytona Beach, Florida with her sister Marlene Taylor, and brother-in-law, Ray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her son, Gary Johnston, and all of her siblings; Betty Bales, Bob DeBoard, Marlene Taylor, and Lloyd DeBoard. Those left to cherish her memory, are her devoted husband of 75 years, Donald Ould Johnston, two daughters, Kristie Walker, Lori Copenhaver & husband Jim, all of Princeton. Three grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, Ashley Shinault & husband Tim, Zachary Copenhaver & wife Brooke, Logan Copenhaver & wife Ali, two great grandsons, Dexter Shinault & Colt Copenhaver, and she was anxiously anticipating the arrival of another great grandchild due in June. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for two special caregivers, Kristie Blankenship & Nancy Mackaravitz for their care and love for Peggy, as well as Compassus Hospice. There will be a service of celebration for Peggy on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 3 :00 PM in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor John King officiating.
