Patrick Stephen Lilly, 77, of Hinton Road, Speedway, died Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston. Born, March 29, 1946, in Daniels, WV, he was the son of the late Clarence Watson Lilly and Marza Clementine Ransom Lilly. Steve was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved the Lord and was a member of Painters Chapel Methodist Church at Speedway. Steve was a 1963 graduate of Athens High School where he was valedictorian of his class, and graduated from Concord College (University). He worked in the school systems and owned his own tax business. Steve enjoyed reading his Bible, gardening, card playing, working puzzles, teaching Sunday School, leading the choir and was a former Pastor of Sunrise Chapel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carla Marie Lilly, three siblings, Clarence Lilly, Sue Parsons and Doug Lilly. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Mary Ruth Ford Lilly; Nine children, James Lilly (Michelle), Christina Wimmer (Larry), David Lilly, Stephanie Park, Ruth Mullins (Jeff), Jonathan Lilly, Amy Hingerty (Erik), Angela Windland (Jason) and Bethany Lilly; Thirteen grandchildren; One great-grandchild; Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Services to celebrate the life of Patrick Stephen Lilly will be held at 11 :00 A.M., Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Randy Sargent and Richard Moeller officiating. Burial will follow in the Caperton Family Cemetery in Speedway with military rites provided by the WV Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. To help defray funeral expenses you may contact either Amy Lilly or Christie Wimmer and flowers may be sent to the funeral home. The Lilly family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
