Oliver Edwin "Eddie" Pettrey Jr., 76, of Princeton, died peacefully Sunday, September 7, 2025, only to hear his Lord and Savior said, "Well done thy good and faithful servant, enter in the joys of the Lord."
Born, October 6, 1948, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Oliver Edwin Pettrey Sr. and Muriel Della Mann Pettrey.
Eddie was educated in Mercer County, and had worked for T&S Contractors for 28 years for above ground mining hydroseeding, retiring in 2000. Eddie had served as pastor of the Fellowship Community Church on the Athens Road for 31 years. He had served as regional director of AFMC for many years. Eddie loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and gardening was a favorite passion. Eddie was devoted and faithful in studying God's Word. He had touched the hearts of so many with his ministry and was loved by all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Michael Pettrey, siblings, Shirley Johnston, Bonnie Harman and Sharon Brooks, along with every member of his church that has ever attended.
Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and caring wife of 49 years, Penny Carroll Pettrey; Children, Annette Inscore, Jeffrey Pettrey and Olivia Jones and husband Harold; Sister, Donna Hamm; Grandchildren, Earl Inscore Jr., Eddie Inscore, Derek Roope, Kiera Warner, Emily Coleman and Hannah Jones; Ten great-grandchildren; Several nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces and his church family.
A homegoing celebration of life service for Eddie Pettrey will be held at Noon on Saturday, Sept 13, 2025, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Jimmy Rogers, Bill Reed and Danny Sloane. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery near Princeton. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
