She was also a long-standing member of the Athens Chapter #33 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Nell retired as an educator in the Mercer County School System with over 51 years of service. One of her proudest educational accomplishments was influencing area colleges and universities to match scholarship funds awarded to students by the Ruritan National Foundation. She worked tirelessly for students and their education. Nell was also involved in local and state politics having spent many years campaigning for candidates and working elections. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Kessinger. Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Phil Jeffries. Three daughters, Phoebe (Brian) Meadows, Beverly Jeffries, Angela Jeffries (Debbie Chapman). Three grandchildren, James E. (Jed) Dempsey, Afton Meadows Linkous (RJ), Noah Chapman Jeffries. Five great-grandchildren, Riley Dempsey, Bodhi Dempsey, Jaxson Dempsey, Teagan Dempsey, and Jesse Linkous. Sister-in-law, Anne Calfee Kessinger. Very special "grand-dog" Dutch. The Family would like to recognize special caregivers, Angie Norman, Destiny Lilly, Amanda Shrewsbury, Mia Bledsoe, and the Staff and Nurses of Hospice Compassus. Their compassion and care of not only our mother, but our father as well will never be overstated or forgotten. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Nell Jeffries will be held at 12:00 P.M.
