Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Carol (Lusk) Hodges, 77, of Athens.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 25, 2025, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was born on January 27, 1948 in Princeton, WV to the late Laura and Emmet Lusk.  Along with her parents, she is proceeded in death by her brothers Ronnie, Jerry, Anthony, and Vinson Lusk.

Surviving is her loving husband of 57 years Paul (Elijah Paul) Hodges Jr, daughter and son in law Tracy and Tom Linkous, grandsons Tyler and Thomas Linkous, siblings Judie Sanders and Larry Lusk.

She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, very proud Nana.  She was known for her unwavering love for her family and friends.  She loved watching her grandsons play sports, especially soccer.

An avid runner/walker, she was a long-time member of the Southern West Virginia Road Runners Club. She attended Yoga with her Athens friends and worked out with the Concord Fitness Folks.  She was a longtime member of the Princeton Quota Club.

She graduated from Princeton High School in 1965 and from Concord College in 1980.

Nancy was an accomplished CPA and business owner of Fisher and Hodges CPAs AC.  She had a meticulous work ethic.  Her successful career was rooted in a deep sense of responsibility and integrity, not just about numbers, but building lasting relationships with her clients.  Yet it was her role as wife, mother and Nana that truly defined her.

Nancy had a special fondness for butterflies, finding joy in their delicate beauty and symbolism.  She also had a love for the Eiffel Tower, a place she dreamt of visiting, which embodied her appreciation for art, culture, and travel. One of her most treasured gifts was her creativity.  She had a unique talent for making beautiful handmade cards that celebrated life's special moments which were thoughtful expressions of her love and appreciation.

She was a constant supporter and aid to her husband during his many years of coaching cross country and track.

A gathering of family & friends will be held Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Nancy will be forever missed and loved, her light shining brightly in our hearts. We will carry her love with us always.
