Mattie D. Marino, 87, of Princeton, passed away early Thursday morning, February 27, 2025, at Rockin Chair Assisted Living, Lerona, WV.
Born November 6, 1937, in Marytown, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Floyd Fletcher and Mattie Louise Lowe Fletcher. After graduating Iaeger High School, Class of 1956, Mattie attended Bluefield State College where she graduated in 1972 with a degree in Elementary Education. Wanting to further her education, Mattie received her Master's Degree in Special Education from Marshall University and continued to work towards a PhD in Special Education. Mattie was a school teacher at Iaeger Elementary School from 1972 until 1998 and a substitute teacher in Mercer County following that time period. While her health permitted, she enjoyed crocheting and volunteering at Fairview Christian Community Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Sam Harman, Willie D. Periue, and Edward Marino; daughter, Bernadette McCoy; son, Nick Harman; grandchild, Michelle Harman, and many brothers and sisters, as she was the last surviving sibling.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Cortney McCoy (Gary Hall), and Samuel "Matthew" McCoy (Krista McCoy); great grandchildren, Jocelyn Hall, Elijah Hall, Makell Harman, Alex Byrd, Sammy McCoy; Daughter-in-law, Debbie Harman; Son-in-law, Rodney McCoy.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Fairview Christian Community Church in Princeton with Pastors Larry Dyer and Blake Bivens officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour at the church. Interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Fairview Christian Community Church, 120 Black Oak Road, Princeton, WV 24740. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com. The Marino Family is being served being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on Athens Road in Princeton.
