Obituary

Mary June Coffey, known fondly as June, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023 in Lake Wylie, South Carolina. She was born on June 25, 1935 in Willis Branch, West Virginia, to the late James Armer Davis and Beatrice Mounts-Davis. June had two brothers: Harry L. Davis (deceased) and James A. Davis.

June was a devoted wife to her late husband, C. Dean Coffey, and a loving mother to her two daughters, Karen D. Coffey-Walker (Kent) and Rhonda J. Coffey-Keaton (Phillip). She was also an adoring Mimi to Jennifer D. Herald, Ashley F. Olah (Jamie), Alexis D. Keaton-Mejak (Justin), and Allison D. Keaton. Her joy only multiplied with the addition of her great-grandchildren, Dylan P Banner and Elena B. Mejak. June held a special fondness for her niece, Selena M. Davis-Campbell, and her first cousin, Ann Kidd.

June's life was marked by her dedication to education and public service. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1953, and furthered her studies by earning an Associates in Business from the West Virginia State College She found joy in her roles as the owner of the Sweetheart Boutique from 1973 to 1983, and later served as the Secretary for the West Virginia State Treasurer and a legislative assistant.

Her passion for community involvement was evident in her roles as President of the Junior Women's Club in Princeton, West Virginia, and as a lifelong active member of the Charleston, West Virginia Women's Club. June's knack for organizing events and fundraisers for the Women's Club was a testament to her commitment to her community and her ability to inspire others.

In her personal life, June was a keen gardener with a particular fondness for her roses. Her garden was a symbol of her love and care, blooming brightly in reflection of her nurturing spirit. Her life was a living example of a quote by Audrey Hepburn, "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow."

June will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her community, and her work. Her legacy of love, resilience, and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.

As we mourn the loss of June, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, compassion, and a spirit of service. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of many.
