Obituary

Martin R. Shelton, 90, of Princeton, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Princeton Health Care Center. He was the husband of Marinda Lee (Wills) Shelton, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage on December 8 th . Born in Princeton, he was the son of the late Martin (Mote) Andrew and Mary Frances (Belcher) Shelton. He was a member of Mount Horeb United Methodist Church, Princeton, where he taught Adult Sunday School for many years. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1949. He was an Army Veteran, having served from 1953 until 1955, during the Korean Conflict.  After being in the Army, he returned to working for the Norfolk & Western Railroad where he spent a total of 37 plus years. He also spent 7 years working for the WV Department of Highways.  He enjoyed being outdoors on his farm, gardening and trains. In addition to his wife Marinda, he is survived by two children, Randy A. Shelton, Dearborn, MI, and Sharon L. Graver & husband Timothy J. of Cheshire CT and two grandchildren, Timothy J. Graver, Jr. and Rebecca H. Graver. Services to honor the life of Martin Shelton will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 26, 2022, from the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Beverly Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with military honors given by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions may be made to Mount Horeb United Methodist Church, 3063 Mount Horeb Road, Princeton, WV 24739. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Belcher, Scott Bradberry, Doug Combs, Timothy Graver, Joel Goings, and Randy Shelton. Online condolences may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com .
