Martha Lula McKenzie, 76, of Princeton, passed peacefully Friday, September 26, 2025, at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem VA.
Born November 12, 1948, in Lerona, she was the daughter of the late Flem Rose & Snow Kerr Rose. Martha was a graduate of Athens High School, Class of 1966. She retired from Princeton Community Hospital with 23 years of service. Martha was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Martha was a lifetime member of TOPS, served as secretary for many years, and a member of the West Virginia Girls who would meet monthly. She was an avid reader and a friend of the Princeton Library.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Grady McKenzie, along with eight siblings, Ray, Flem Jr., Thelma, Lloyd, Milford, Charles, Marshall & Tommy.
Survivors include her four children, Christine McKenzie, Dawn Shook (Chris), Sean McKenzie (Rene) & Bridgett Haislip (Chuck), and her adopted daughter Amanda Shorter. Four grandchildren, Mac Haislip, Jacob Shook, Piper McKenzie & Jameson McKenzie. Siblings, Nona Bowling, Rachel Simmonson (Ray) and Irene Seal. Along with a large extended family and aunt Lillian Kerr Young.
Services to celebrate the life of Martha McKenzie will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Robby Shorter & Daniel Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Elgood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 5 until 7 P.M. at the funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Campbell, Terrell, Wyatt and Christian Dyer.
