Mark Alan Walkup, born on December 22, 1966, passed away surrounded by love and the legacy of a life well lived on February 6, 2026. He was born to Larry and BJ, who raised him with strong values that carried through every part of his life.

Mark was a devoted father to his two children, Aaron and Morgan, and a proud Papa to six grandchildren, all of whom he absolutely adored. Few things brought him more joy than time spent with them, making memories they will carry forever. Mark shared an especially close bond with his sister, Donna, a relationship rooted in lifelong love, loyalty, and friendship.

For 19 years, Mark was married to his person, Amber, his loving wife and constant companion. Together they shared a deep bond, a life full of laughter, and countless moments—especially time spent at the beach and on the river, two of Mark's favorite places to be by her side.

Mark worked as a Maintenance of Way Crewman for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he lived life fully. He loved hunting and fishing, riding his side-by-side, floating the river, listening to music, singing and playing his guitar, and spending time outdoors.

Those left to carry on Mark's legacy include his wife, Amber; his son, Aaron Walkup and wife Malia of Bluefield; his daughter, Morgan Brinkley and husband Joey of Princeton; his grandchildren Briannah, Riley, Quinn, Wyatt, Ella, and Karson; his mother, BJ; his sister, Donna Gordon and husband Johnie; along with several beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces, and many close friends.

Those gone on before him include his father, Larry Walkup; his paternal grandparents, Junior and Dorothy Walkup; and his maternal grandmother, Bessie.

Mark will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty, and the way he showed up for the people who mattered most to him. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him always.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Mark's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project to continue his patriotism and unwavering support of the veteran community.

Services to Celebrate the life of Mark Walkup will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory with Weston Gordon officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 Noon until the service time.
