Obituary

Malcolm Douglas Neal, 81 of Modern Lane, Princeton died Monday, June 12, 2023, at Princeton Community Hospital. B orn in Princeton on May 18, 1942, he was the son of the late Dayton Roscoe Neal and Virginia May Campbell Neal. Doug was a retired civil engineer having worked for Norfolk & Western and Norfolk Southern Railroad. After retirement he enjoyed Photography and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-ndchildren. Brother Neal was installed as Grand Master of Masons in West Virginia during the annual Communication in Charleston, West Virginia on October 13, 2015. As Most Worshipful Master in the Masons his affiliations include the following:  Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Valley of Charleston, Orient of West Virginia 32nd Degree KCCH Valley of Charleston.  The offices he held include Venerable Master, Lodge of Perfection, Valley of Bluefield Wise Master, Chapter of Rose Croix, Valley of Bluefield, Personal Representative and Treasurer, Valley of Bluefield, Royal Arch Mason, Athens Chapter No. 26 Order of the Easter Star and Princeton Lodge No. 53. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Laura Bailey Neal and his sister, Barbara Jo Smith. Left to cherish his memory are two children, Dayton "Doug" Neal and spouse, Lisa, Cathy Neal Whitt and husband Jim Hatmaker; Three grandchildren, Kyle Neal and wife Kristin, Christy Whitt Weatherly and husband Travis and Kelli Neal Embrescia and husband John; Six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, June 17, 2023, in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with his grandson Pastor Kyle Neal and Pastor Devin Olachea officiating.  Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton where graveside Masonic rites will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge. Members of the Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family Friday evening, June 16, 2023 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M.
