Lenise Delores
Caccamo
Sep 12, 1949 — Oct 19, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lenise Delores Caccamo, 75, of Spanishburg (formerly of War, WV). Delores went home to meet Jesus on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. Born September 12, 1949 in War, she was the daughter of the late Lonzo Gilbert and Dorene Hagy Gilbert.
She was a graduate of Big Creek High School. Delores retired from the McDowell County Board of Education where she taught special education. She was truly devoted to each child who was blessed to cross paths with her. In Delores's final days on earth, she showed all of her loved ones that heaven was real and that God is good and merciful. Along with her husband, she was a devout member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Princeton where she served on the alter society and poured her love into helping. While her health permitted, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking for her family and collecting dolls. Most of all, she loved making over her grandbabies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Toni Renee Caccamo, along with two siblings, Michael Gilbert and Kimberly Collinsworth.
Those left to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 54 years, Pat (Patsy) Caccamo, six children and spouses, Mark Shane Caccamo (Sheri) of Camp Creek, WV, Daniel Jeffrey Caccamo of Denver, NC, Matthew Patrick Caccamo (Amanda) of Chesapeake, VA, Teresa LeAnn Charles (Timothy) of Wytheville, VA, Amanda Nicole Zipf (Robert) of Fishersville, VA, Katherine Doris Caccamo of Winston-Salem, NC, Andrew Cody Collinsworth (Holly) of Scarbro, WV. Nineteen Grandchildren-Christian Shane Caccamo (Destiny), Zachary Wayne Charles, Breanna Faith Whittaker (Kyle), Kimberly Faith Hopper (Cole), Patrick William Charles, Emily Marie Lutz (Brent), Isabella Nicole Zipf, Madison Grace Zipf, Nathan Paul Caccamo, Elizabeth Megan Caccamo, Olivia Lenise Caccamo, Luca Alexander Charles, Joanna Lenise Zipf, Jennifer Hope Caccamo, Noah Timothy Charles, Andrew Cody Collinsworth II, Gabriel Isaac Charles, Lydia Faith Zipf, Alexander Robert-Paul Collinsworth; Two great-grandchildren-Navie May Hopper, Adilynn Mae Whittaker; Three siblings- Jackie Bandy Mullins, Sandra Gilbert and Sue Kinder.
Even in her final days, Delores made sure Pat, her children, and grandchildren knew just how much she loved them. Her determination to keep fighting was unlike any most have seen. A special thank you to Princeton Community Hospital CCU nurses, Compassus hospice nurses, and granddaughters Madison and Destiny for the gentle care and respect they gave our mother in her final time on earth.
