Lehona Morris, 103, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 24,2024. She passed away peacefully at the Glenwood Healthcare Center. Born on Browning Lambert Mountain, she was the last surviving child of Rennie and Beulah Thomas Thorne. She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Lehona was twice widowed. As a young mother in 1944, she lost her first husband, Edgar Jones, in a tragic accident. Her second husband of 53 years, Herbert Morris, passed away in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Rita Jones Asbury, five grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Galen (Donna) Morris of Floyd, VA; David (Dianna) Morris of Bent Mountain, VA; Denise (Paul) Wooldridge of Princeton, WV, and Kermit Morris of Independence, WV. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Lehona loved the Lord. She started every morning with prayer and reading her Bible. She attended the New Covenant Pentecostal Church in Princeton for many years where she taught Sunday school. Lehona will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved gardening, crocheting, quilting and cooking. Her fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits were legendary. She was always the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners and family birthday parties. The family would like to express appreciation for the care provided by the staff at Glenwood Health Care Center. They went above and beyond. Services to celebrate Lehona's life will be held on Monday, January, 29, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory, Athens Road in Princeton, WV with Pastor David Kirby officiating. Friends may visit Sunday, from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  "Onnie" will be laid to rest beside Herbert, in Roselawn Cemetery, Courthouse Road in Princeton Princeton, WV.  Grandsons and Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
