Obituary

Larry E. Reed, 68, of Quarter Court, Bluefield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 7, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born September 1, 1955, in Welch, he was the son of the late Jessie Eldridge Reed and Louise Parker Reed. Larry loved his Lord and was a faithful member of Carr Memorial United Methodist Church in Glenwood. Larry started his career at Eaton Yale and Towne in Salem, VA, and continued to Coppinger Machinery, then Eimco Machinery, where he became a highly skilled machinist and worked his way into industrial engineering and planning. He eventually became the owner and operator of Excel Tool in Falls Mills, VA. After selling his business, he became a foreman for Eastern Tank, then Joy Manufacturing in Bluefield, VA.  Larry took great pride in teaching and mentoring young men in this field of work. He was a graduate of Gary High School Class of 1973 and attended Bluefield State College. He was a member of the Bramwell Masonic Lodge #45.  Larry loved working, fishing, gardening, and riding his Harley Davidson, but most of all, he loved his family, especially his adoring grandson, Maxwell Ryan Reed, and his four-legged companions, Lucy, Geni, and Woodi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Lyndon Reed, and nephews, Joey Reed and Jeff Green. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Patricia (Patty) Ann Green Reed; One son, Christopher Larry Reed, and wife Vicki; One grandson, Maxwell Ryan Reed; One sister, Karen Daher, and husband Chuck; Special nieces and nephews Jon Daher, Lindsey Daher Baker, Derick Reed, Sarah Reed, Shane and Seth Green, Sarah Seltzer, and Jason Tinney.  A sincere thank you to his wonderful Princeton Hospice Compasses team, especially his nurses, Heather and Emma. The family has honored Larry's request to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Memorial Funeral Directory with Rev.
