Obituary

Larry Wayne Mann of Speedway, WV died peacefully in his home on April 25, 2023, surrounded by his family. Larry was born in Princeton, WV, on July 8, 1952, to Wilbur and Esther Mann. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Carl and Donald Mann, sisters-in-law Betty, Nola and Sylvia Mann, and brothers-in-law William Phillips and Larry Graham. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean Ann Mann (nee Bird), his son Nicholas Mann and wife Meresa, as well as his two grandchildren who were the light of his life, Kayli Madison and Caden Wayne. He is also survived by his brothers William "Billy" and Harry Lee Mann of Princeton, his sisters Lucy Graham of Matoaka, Nancy Phillips of Peterstown, and Bonnie Barberie (Dwain) of Princeton, and sister-in-law Alice Mann of Roanoke, VA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Larry was a proud 1970 graduate of Princeton High School. He was a drummer in two bands in his teen years, "Bred" and "Sound Machine". After graduating, he worked in Glenwood Park Methodist Home for many years. He obtained his license as a Master Electrician while working at Concord University, where he worked for many years until his retirement in 2013. He attended Painters Chapel, where he served the Lord in many ways, and was known for the spectacular sunrise Easter services and Christmas programs he produced with the youth. After retirement, Larry loved to volunteer his time to read to students at Sun Valley Elementary School. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks those interested to send a donation toward Sun Valley Elementary School's Gymnasium Project. The address is PO Box 10, Lerona, WV, 25971. To honor his wishes, his body will be cremated. A time of fellowship and remembrance will be held Saturday April 29th from 10am to 12pm directly followed by a memorial service in his honor at the Memorial Funeral Directory, 654 Athens Road, Princeton, W.V. with Roger Craft, Elder Norvel Mann, and Elder Thomas Mann speaking.
