Larry James "Dynamite" Perdue, 71, of Bluefield, died peacefully Friday evening, November 17, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born April 12, 1952, in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Alex Glen Perdue & Laura Serena Proffitt Perdue. Larry was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad with 25 years of service and a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Ways. He was active with the Great Princeton Little League for 40 years, having umpired many games on the local & state levels, as well as All-Star games in several states. While Larry's health permitted, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, singing and talking to people, he never met a stranger. Larry was a die heart Bluefield Beaver Fan. Most of all, Larry loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by seven siblings: Doug, Randall, Phyllis, Patricia, Rita, Sue & Glen. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving & devoted wife of 51 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Wert Perdue, two children, Laura Gertrude Poe & husband Eric, Barry Lee Perdue & wife Niki, 7 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild. Three siblings, Darlene Toney, Dexter Perdue & Jerry Perdue, sister-in-law, Pansy Hancock. Special cousins, Calvin & Hope Proffitt. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, in the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ronnie Richards, his brother-in-Law David Wert, along with Kenny Hawthrone & Vicki Miller speaking. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley.
