Obituary

Kenneth Marshall Phillips, 78, of Speedway, died Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Wake Forrest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.

Born August 26, 1947, in Princeton, he was the son of the late Marshall Alton Phillips and Juanita Mae Baldwin Phillips. Kenny graduated from Athens High School in 1965. He was a Vietnam veteran serving with the U.S. Air Force.

Kenny worked all of his life in the construction business, having been a carpenter for many years. His true enjoyment was working on his farm; he took great pride in his farming. He was of the Methodist faith, enjoyed hunting & golfing. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his pride and joy, his granddaughter Riley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son in law, John Richmond, along with two siblings, Ronnie Wayne Philips & Diana Fay Phillips.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sandra Gail Presley Phillips, son, Randy Wayne Phillips & wife Mary, daughter, Josette Richmond, granddaughter Riley Richmond, three siblings, Bobby Phillips & wife Debbie, Sandy Lynch & Beverly Tucker, sister-in-law, Debbie Phillips along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The family has honored Kenny’s wishes, he has been cremated and no service will be held.
