Kenneth W. Hylton Sr. passed from this life into Eternal Light on October 5, 2023. He: was born on May 22, 1932 to Lonnie Bryant and Rosa Phillips Hylton in Bluefield, WV. Kenneth loved his family, friends and Church family. Kenneth was a Born Again, New Covenant Christian and served the Kingdom of Christ as an ordained Elder, Deacon, Teacher and Disciple in multiple area congregations. He also served on the Board of Directors for Bluefield College of Evangelism, and Christian Acres. Kenneth was the Honored Historian of the Year for Mercer County in 2004. He and his dear friend, Richard Lockhart, volunteered countless hours in research and maintenance of the graves of many Civil War veterans. He was an active member of the local SCV. He was retired from Appalachian Power Company after 32 years of service in the Transmission Division as a Construction Rep. and Supervising Inspector. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Billie J Hypes Hylton; daughter Pamela Smith Bladel and husband Thomas Bladel; son Kenneth W. Hylton Jr. and his wife Donna Barley Hylton; four grandchildren: Amanda Smith Rowell and husband Kevin Rowell; Darren Smith; Joshua Smith and wife Britney, and Samuel Hylton; and great grandchildren: Savanna and Katelin Rowell, Elliot and Ezekiel Smith, Emma and Elaine Halstead. Kenneth was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceding him in death: brothers, Sigle R Hylton; Maurice Hylton, Lonnie B Hylton, Jr; Phillip W Hylton, and sisters: Imogene Harman and Ethylene (Lynn) Volinski. Services will be officiated by Tony Reed, a dear friend and evangelist. The Memorial Service will be held at the Memorial Funeral Home, Princeton WV. on Saturday, October 28th. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. and funeral service immediately following. Internment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens afterwards. Pallbearers: Thomas Bladel, Darren Smith, Joshua Smith, Samuel Hylton, Jim Hylton, Dr. John Volinski, Barry Harman, and Blaine Hypes. Honorary Pallbearers: Kevin Rowell, Dennis Barley, Richard Lockhart, Dr. David Larkin, Troy Lester, Danny Sarver, Rodney Barley, and Ron Steele. A special thank you to Kenneth's in-home caregivers Dorothy Manning, Marie Billings, Jennifer Brown, Roxanne Thompson, Kaye Broyles, and Rebecca Matthews.
