Kathryn Louise Gentry Spangler Walker, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, after a short recent illness. Born on May 20, 1949, in the rural community of Conaway, northwest of Grundy, Va. She was the beloved daughter of the late Fredrick and Lenora Gentry who had a general store and ran the post office of Conaway.

Kathy's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness, survived by her daughter, Melissa Spangler Wilmoth, and her grandchildren, Cody Wilmoth (Holly) and Devon Wilmoth (Katelyn). In addition, she had 3 great-grandchildren; Kaisen, Blake, and Samuel Wilmoth. Kathy also leaves her dear brothers, Fred Gentry of Richlands, VA, and Greg Gentry of Richmond, VA. Her close friend, Kathy Hearn, was not just a confidante but also the sister she never had, providing unwavering support and love throughout the years.

Kathy graduated from Grundy High School, Bluefield Business College and CNA school. Her career was marked by compassion and dedication. She loved her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where her gentle touch and caring nature made a difference in the lives of many. Prior to this, she was a vibrant presence at Kroger, where she worked as a cashier for many years, brightening the day of everyone she encountered.

Kathy had a flair for the beautiful things in life, with a particular fondness for jewelry and all things sparkly. Her perfectly manicured nails were a testament to her attention to detail and zest for life. She had a natural gift with plants and flowers, often expressing her desire to enjoy their beauty while she was alive. Kathy cherished her time spent talking and laughing with friends, always ready with a story or a listening ear.

In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Kathy Hearn for her loving care and companionship, which meant the world to Kathy throughout her life.
